Okay, now that I've got your attention....
Sorry, I should've had my next entry up by now.
I'm working on an entry on Lana, Jack's wife, who I mentioned in the Trish entry. So why ain't it done yet?
Well, there are reasons, and there are excuses. Reasons are valid, and excuses are garbage. So I'm going to dump a bunch of excuses on you.
First off, I just hit the wall on this Lana entry. Sometimes, I'm totally OCD-affected. And while that helped in my legal career, and certainly helps in photography, it's driving me crazy with this entry.
Lana had a fascinating past prior to meeting Jack. And I'm working my way through that without turning the entry into War and Peace.
The next excuse is that we have a new girl residing on our property. We have some guest houses around here--four, to be precise--and Alex and I weren't sure if we wanted to tear them down or restore them. So Jim flew out from his estate in northern AZ and gave us his evaluation. Structurally they were all in good condition, so he and his wife crashed with us and we fixed a couple up (this was several months ago).
Mitzie and CG have a girlfriend they've been playing with for a few years. In fact, not long after she started playing with them, she started coming over to have some fun with me and Alex. But that's a different story for a different time.
Anyway, last month Katey, a dental hygienist, broke up with her boyfriend and needed a place to stay. Since we had a guest house available, she asked if she could rent it. We agreed, and we all helped her move her stuff out of storage and into her new place.
Oh, and then there's Adobe Lightroom......
Like fucking learning Latin--BUT I'm learning it.
Back in the 80s, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth, people didn't walk around staring mindlessly into their phone-sized phone computers, and when "oldies" stations played songs from the fifties and sixties, photo-takers had to go into a darkroom and develop their pictures.
Or drop them off at a Kodak kiosk. Remember those? No?
Motherfuck, I'm old.
Anyway, nowadays, of course, while there are still film cameras out there, pretty much everything picture-taking wise is now digital.
So as film cameras phased out and digital cameras took over, I went with the digital cameras.
Of course, I didn't bother to learn anything about photography's new "darkroom", photo software. Well, I did.....kind of....
All these years, I've been using very hand programs like Photoscape (which is terrific for minor editing) and a couple of others. Mostly Photoscape, though.
But recently, I've been using Adobe Photoshop Express, a free program. It offers a little more variety than Photoscape. In fact, the pictures above were processed with this program and so are the pictures of Lana.
So I decided, hey, maybe get my ass into the present and start learning Adobe Lightroom. So that's another excuse. Trust me, you can literally lose hours just fucking around with it.
Oh, and I got a new car. So there's that. Yes, my infamous Chevy Astro Van hit the end of the road (see what I did there?). I took it into my mechanic to get some more work done and the drive shaft....uh.....no, not that.....
Any of you car guys? It's the column that leads down from the steering wheel.....
Gear box? I think it was the gear box. Yeah, that came loose and the van was so rusted out....well....it couldn't be welded back. And honestly, there were a LOT of other issues going on as well. And Alex had been bugging me to get a new mode of transport.
So I had to say goodbye. I don't know why I kept it for so long. I think I was just attached to it. And then the gear box got unattached to the body. So it all came full circle.
Well, whatever. I went out and got a Kia Soul. I like it. I'm happy.
Kia Soul? Did I just say that? YOU KNOW I DID, BITCHES!
DO DAH DIPPITY! YO!
Greatest commercial ever.
And now I drive around town yelling at people, "I'M A FUCKING HAMSTER MOTHERFUCKER!"
Well, I did until the wife told me to stop. She's no fun.
So anyway, there's the update. A bunch of excuses. But I'll get back to grinding out the Lana entry--I'll just have to condense her backstory as much as possible.
And I guess I should apologize to you all. But I'm not going to.
And you want to know why?
BECAUSE I'M A FUCKING HAMSTER, MOTHERFUCKERS!
You can get with this or you can get with that..... you can get with this or you can get with that.....
